Sunday School Has Started!
We welcomed all of our young children and their
families back to Sunday School with a celebratory
picnic in the Canyon Park on August 23rd! Sunday
School class will be offered each Sunday
beginning right after the ChildrenŸs Message in the
service. We are using a new Spark Lectionary
Curriculum for this year's elementary class and
look forward to a wonderful experience learning
about Jesus and the Bible. Nancy Osborn and
Chris Roelandt have arranged to have a great
rotation of Sunday School teachers and we are so
thankful for their assistance!
The ruling elder and three committee members comprise the current Children's Ministries committee. Sunday School class primarily serves elementary aged children. Children who are in 6th to 8th grades meet as the LOGOS group on Sundays as well as a separate high school aged youth group; both are under the direction of the Youth Director. Six congregants serve as Sunday School teachers for the elementary aged class and a paid adult nursery attendant serves the infants through pre-school children on Sunday mornings. A combined children and youth Christmas pageant is presented to the congregation each year with singing, staging and instrumentals. This ministry also hands out flowers on Mother's Day, recognizes our high school and college graduates, awards Bibles to our 8 year olds, and hosts an Easter Party with the children enrolled in the Bright Starz daycare.
Childcare is available for young children at our 10:00 am service. Depending on their ages and your desires you may want to leave children younger than five in the nursery, which is staffed by professional childcare providers. Ask one of our greeters to direct you to the nursery.
A children's message is given during the 10:00 am service before the pastor's message. Older children (K-12th Grade) are welcome to leave for Sunday School after the children's message, or they may stay with their parents for the remainder of the service. Sunday School takes a summer break during June, July and August. Activity bags with crayons and coloring books are available for all children - just ask one of the greeters!
Our children enjoy several special events throughout the year, including an October visit to a local pumpkin patch, presentation of a Christmas Pageant during a December worship service, and others.
