Session:

The session is responsible for the mission and government of Community Presbyterian Church. The session consists of the pastor and 9 elders in active service. Elders are elected by the congregation for a 3 year term. After election and training, they are ordained as an elder for life. The pastor is moderator of the session. The elders of the session elect a Clerk of Session. The clerk is responsible for the minutes of the session meetings and correspondence. As stated in our by- laws, most committees are headed by an elder.

Deacons:

The board of deacons consists of 12 deacons. Deacons are elected by the congregation for a 3 year term. After election and training, they are ordained as an deacon for life. A deacon may serve more than one term, if re-elected by the congregation. The main duties of the deacons are to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who are in distress. Some of the responsibilities include home and hospital visits, providing transportation to and from church, and providing meals and assistance to persons in need. They also oversee the logistical part of the worship service by recruiting acolytes, ushers and greeters, putting the church in order after a worship service, and making sure the church is locked. They supervise the prayer chain and care clusters and arrange for special dinners or potlucks.
